Wood Post Lag System

The Hayn Wood Post Lag System is a Traditional Cable Rail tensioning assembly that combines a lag screw mount with a swage wire terminal and turnbuckle body, providing direct wood post attachment without requiring a through-hole or backing plate, available in machine swage, Hayn Grip, and Handy Crimp configurations for wire sizes from 1/8" through 1/4".

Strong Where It Matters

Wood Post Lag System

The lag screw end drives directly into the wood post, eliminating the need to drill a clearance hole and fit a bolt and nut on the far side — which makes this the most installer-friendly Traditional cable rail termination option for wood-framed structures. The system requires a minimum of 3" of solid wood blocking behind the mounting surface for full thread engagement, and the strength of the assembly is limited by the lag holding power of the mounting material rather than the cable hardware itself, so solid blocking is not optional. Available in five machine swage configurations and additional Hayn Grip and Handy Crimp options covering thread sizes from 1/4-28 through 5/16-24 and wire sizes from 1/8" through 1/4", with a 3" to 3-1/4" adjustment range and a 50-foot maximum run length per span.

Engineered In America Every Hayn fitting is designed and manufactured at our facility in Rocky Hill, Connecticut — the same American workmanship that has set the standard for stainless steel rigging hardware since 1950.
Cold-Worked Production Hayn fittings are cold-worked, not cast. That distinction matters: the cold-working process refines grain structure, increases fatigue resistance, and produces a fundamentally stronger component — one built to perform when the load comes on it.
Precision Manufacturing Our Rocky Hill production floor runs CNC vertical mills, CNC lathes, large-capacity mill-turn centers, and waterjet cutting systems — all configured to produce hardware that meets exact specifications, every time.
75+ Years of Excellence Hayn has been engineering and manufacturing marine and architectural rigging hardware since 1950. That track record isn't just history, it's the design knowledge, failure data, and continuous improvement that goes into every product we make.
  • Type 316 stainless steel construction for superior saltwater corrosion resistance
